While travelling with a laptop an internet connection is very desirable. By using your Windows Mobile Phone as a bluetooth modem, you can connect easily to the internet using GPRS or your regular internet service provider (providing your laptop has bluetooth as well of course). This is also known as tethering an internet connection.
Before you start configuring your Windows mobile phone as a modem, you first have to bond or pair your device with your laptop.
After this, you can start the connection wizard:

Here you can indicate you want to connect to the internet:

Easiest way of setting up the connection is by doing it maually:

To connect to GPRS or an ISP, you have to select "Dial-up connection" in the network connection selector:

After this selection, you have to select the device. Most laptops have a build-in modem and map the dial-up service of bluetooth to a virtual com-port:

After selecting the right device, you can name the connection. You can name it whatever you want, but keep in mind you have to find it back:

The next thing to enter is the phone number of your internet provider. When you use GPRS, you generally have to enter *99# to make your phone call the GPRS connection. If you use a dialin-connection to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or your work, enter the number here.

After this, you have to decide who to share this connection with. For most laptops are personal, you can safely say to share it with everyone:

After that, you are finished with creating the connection:
Now you can start using your connection. You just enable bluetooth on both devices, and activate the modem connection from the start menu:

This will trigger the following response:
Here you can enter your username and password for the modem connection if needed. For optimal comfort, you can click "Save username and password for future uses".
When you click "Properties" another option screen opens up.
This dialog allows you to finetune your settings for your bluetooth connection. For example itt allows you to skip the dialog completely when connecting, and set more advanced features like using Windows domains:
