Installing and configuring QMail

Installing QMail is not trivial, and since the original manual is in japanese, we have written a how-to to explain to you how to install QMail on your device.

Installing QMAil

After downloading the zipfile containg the application (please be advised that for older models you have to look here), you have to install it. You can do this by unziping the zip-file and name the folder containg all the unzipped files QMail. Copy the entire contents of the directory to your Windows Mobile device. Best place to place your applications is in the programs directory. Also decide where you want to store the messages, a good place could be your memory-card. It is wise to create a seperate directory for this before starting QMail.

On your Windows Mobile device, go to Program /Files/Qmail directory, and tap-and-hold the q3u.exe and select copy. After this, you go to /Windows/Start Menu/Programs and select create shortcut. By doing this, you have added Qmail to your startmenu.

Some mail-providers, like GMail, require SSL support in order to connect to their servers. If you need SSL support, you also have to download the SSL package for QMail. Like with the main package, you will have to unpack it and copy it to your Program /Files/Qmail folder as well.

After doing this, you can start Qmail from the startmenu. When you start Qmail for the first time, you get a dialog asking where the mai-folder should be placed. In this dialog, just point to the directory you previously created.
